I know what you mean, but Spielberg was toying around with the idea for quite along time and doing it like this is the only way to do it, and i thank god, that he didn't do it earlier , in lifeaction for example,...and if it comes to mocap, well, who would be more up to the job than the guy who gave us gollum ?
I don't know, after seeing Spielberg (and other) butchering my childhood memorys of the Decepticon design from Transformers (okay, Transformers concept got changed over and over. And Spielberg isn't alone on this) and Jackson's way of turning every movie he makes into some sort of semi-comedy ('hey wouldn't, it be cool to let someone surf on a shield down that staris?!' - but besides i enjoyed LotR), i get a bad feeling about 'great filmmakers' using well known stories. The only worse things are 'filmmakers' producing movies based on computer games - Bad example Uwe Boll; wheras i've to say i can't wait to see hist 'Postal' - I must be ill...
So sorry for the long post, i hope i don't annoy you with my 'clueless' comments or my bad english...
Räusper,....you don't want to compare Tintin to the transformers, do you.And by the way, which was the movie, where I thought : omg, they'll fuck up the book and my own vision and then later I was soooooo amazed ? Oh, yes, it was LOTR...H
When speaking of the possibility of changes in the design i would compare a lot to Tintin. Hui-Buh, Transformers, He-Men, all of these 'had' a movie, and i think in all of them the good design got bad... And most of it because it got converted...
Sure, i was also amazed about Jackson's LotR, but i wouldn't say it was completly Tolkien's version he did. As i said, he added some jokes (wich helped the movie a lot i think). But then again he also added jokes to King Kong (imho). And i think in both movies he had a bit of luck. Sure you might say it wasn't luck -But i think luck is a main part of writing stories/books etc.
That's why Rowling sold millions of book within a few years while Terry Pratchett needed much more time...
And so i get a bad feeling seeing Spielberg and Jackson doing Tintin. Both of them alter the original version. And so i await to see a altered version of Tintin, wich i thought might get pretty ugly (i mean 3D - I can't to wait a Tom Hanks look-a-like Tintin; or maybe a Homer in 3d look-a-like?). Sorry i might simply be pessimistic...
