  1. HI Harald, thank you for the kind comments, but the book is not due to be published until January, 2007. I'm still working on the illustrations. There will be a lot of surprises inside!

    Best wishes

Nancy Beiman is so GREAT and nice !
    What a talent.
I was lucky enough to meet her once, when I was a student at the animation-school-hamburg, while she was doing Storyboards for "Werner 4" in Hamburg. I was so afraid to meet her and show her my Pencil-tests, but she was so kind and took the time to look at them. Today I know they were just horrible :-)))
She told me how I should do it better. She even went to a Book-Shop and brought me a Book by Preston Blair and made some notes into it.
Nancy if you read this, THANK YOU SO MUCH !! I still have the Book with you notes :-))

  7. Hello everyone! How nice to hear from everyone, especially Uli and Victor. Thank you for the nice comments.
I can promise you that the book should be worth having for the three interviews in the back...I'm waiting to hear now about some 'extra special' illustrations for two of them.
The book has three sections: Concept, Technique, and Presentation. There is a large glossary and three interviews in the appendix with Ken Anderson, Ken O'Connor, and T. Hee. I've got some terrific materials on this last, and least-known, of my teachers.
My text is based on a lot of unpublished sources (some from various studio classes, most from my Cal Arts student notes and my interviews with animation artists.) I've got some guest artwork in the design section so it does not turn into a 'draw like me' book. I'm proudest of the contributions of my students--I believe any teacher should be judged by the quality of the work their students produce, and their work this year was excellent.
I'm also trying to make it entertaining to read.
Thanks again folks, and I will let you know when it is 'out'

  8. Definitely on my "must have" list. I don't know of any proper books about storyboarding, except perhaps the Bluth book (in which the drawings are great, but the text a bit strange). Great news :)
